Black Knights Show Heart Despite 50–19 Loss to Mountain Heritage
ROBBINSVILLE, N.C. — Friday night’s matchup against Mountain Heritage was a tough one for the Robbinsville Black Knights, but the team showed resilience and flashes of brilliance, even in a 50–19 defeat.
Robbinsville came out ready to compete, with Isiac Collins powering through Mountain Heritage’s defense for a touchdown and racking up impressive yardage on the ground. Quarterback Luke Lovin orchestrated several strong drives, connecting with Cameron Allison for key gains, including a scoring reception that kept the Black Knights on the board and in striking distance at multiple points.
The defense also had its moments, slowing the Cougars on several drives and forcing a few punts, giving Robbinsville’s offense chances to respond. The turning point came in the third quarter when Mountain Heritage broke a long scoring run, but Robbinsville’s players never let up, continuing to fight for every yard.
Despite the loss, Robbinsville (1–2) displayed growth and cohesion that bodes well for the remainder of the season. This is a team that, especially with the new classifications, is focused on the success they can have in the postseason.
The Black Knights will have a chance to bounce back next week when they host Mitchell, while Mountain Heritage improves to 3–0 and heads to Swain County.
