Bryce, Brock, and Cuttler Adams combine for nearly 250 yards of offense to help keep The Ville undefeated in SMC play.

Things were shaky out of the gate for both teams, but Robbinsville’s offense woke up late in the second half and lit up the scoreboard, allowing the Knights to come away with a big 30-13 win over Cherokee. Both teams’ defense’s played exceptionally well as we went to half 0-0, but it was all Black in the 2nd half. The Knights held the Braves to just 227 yards and two touchdowns. The Knights were able to accumulate over 300 yards of offense even with their slow start, and Cuttler Adams found paydirt 3 times for the second straight week.

Cherokee now falls to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Robbinsville is now 6-1 and 2-0 in conference play.

Team Notes

The Black Knights were led by Cuttler Adams big game as the star RB notched 109 yards on 25 carries and 3 TDs.

Junior Quarterback Donovan Carpenter exited the game early with an injury, leading to Sophomore Bryce Adams getting his first real QB reps of the year.

After getting some time to settle in behind center, Adams ended up pitching a solid game for the Knights as he threw for 104 yards on 5 completions and was able to connect with big brother Brock Adams for a long TD. Brock led the team in receiving with 2 catches for 68 yards and one score. Aside from Cuttler Adams, 9 other Knights touched the ball out of the backfield and managed just 78 yards on 24 carries. On defense, junior Zeke Silvers led the team with 8 tackles while senior Jude Campbell recorded the only Black Knights TFL.

As for the Cherokee Braves, Kaden Smith did it all as he threw for 118 yards, a TD, and led the team in rushing yards with 64 as well as adding another TD on the ground. Michael Driver led the team in receiving with 64 yards and a TD.

Turnovers have plagued the Braves all season and the same rang true Friday night, as Chase Calhoun fumbled the ball away and Smith threw two interceptions.

Look Ahead

The Black Knights will host the Murphy Bulldogs who sit at 5-2 and 2-0 in conference play, in a highly anticipated matchup.

As for the Braves their next contest will be at home against the 7-0 (2-0) Andrews Wildcats.
