PRESS RELEASE – Deputies with the Graham County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the Cherokee Indian Police Department, responded to a report of a reckless driver on U.S. Highway 129 on April 26, 2026.

The suspect vehicle was located and stopped for a traffic violation. During the investigation, deputies determined the truck had been reported stolen out of Missouri and was displaying a fictitious license plate. Deputies also recovered a license plate from Oklahoma that had been reported stolen.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of two packages of methamphetamine with a combined total weight of approximately 20.1 grams, along with burglary tools and additional evidence.

The driver, Kenneth Glen Scrivens, was charged with:
• Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle
• Possession of Methamphetamine
• Possession of Stolen Property
• Resist, Delay, Obstruct

Scrivens was also found to have an outstanding warrant from Missouri. A Fugitive Extradition Warrant has been obtained.

The passenger, Marcus Clayton Jiminez, was charged with:
• Possession With Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver Methamphetamine (PWIMSD)

Both individuals were transported to the Graham County Jail.

This case reflects continued cooperation between local and state law enforcement agencies and a commitment to addressing reckless driving and criminal activity within Graham County.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
