Black Knights Win Great Smoky Mtn. Grapple

The Robbinsville Black Knights Wrestling team traveled to Harrahs Cherokee Center to compete in the Great Smoky Mtn Grapple last Saturday.

The Black Knights did what they do best, and put 8 wrestlers in the semi-finals against some of the toughest competition in our area.

On the girls side of things, Aynsley Fink rattled off four straight pins on her way to winning the 106lb womens division

In the 132lb class, Jayden Nowell won his first 3 matches of the day by pin-fall and secured a second place finish on the day. Nowell lost in the championship match to 3-time, 2A State Champ Kyle Montaperto.

In 138lb, Zane Lucksavage was knocked out of the semifinals but fought his way back in the consolations for a 3rd place finish, as did Jaret Panama in the 160lb division. Panama’s wins all came by decision.

Kyle Fink ran through the 182lb weight class until falling in the Championship match. Fink still finished second and is 16-2 on the year.

In 195, Kage Williams kept his undefeated streak alive, going 4-0 on the evening and defeating Owen Clark, a 2A State Runnerup, in the championship round.

Big Ben Wachacha suffered his first loss on the year, but fought back for a 3rd place finish and now sits at 15-1 this season.

Robbinsville defeated 30+ other teams, and scored 187 team points on the evening.
