The Swain County Lady Devils couldn’t find their rhythm Tuesday night, falling 7-0 to a sharp Robbinsville squad.
Robbinsville wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard, with Suri Watty driving in a run on a first-inning single to set the tone early. From there, the Lady Knights kept the pressure on—and Swain County struggled to respond.
Naomi Taylor was dominant in the circle for Robbinsville, throwing a complete-game shutout. She scattered five hits across seven innings, striking out three and walking just one. Her counterpart, Rylee Rawls, pitched a full game for Swain County but was tagged for seven runs—six of them earned—on eight hits. Rawls also struck out four in the gritty effort.
Despite the loss, Rawls showed resilience on both sides of the game, leading the Lady Devils at the plate by going 2-for-3.
Robbinsville’s lineup proved deep and dangerous. Sydney Adams, batting seventh, led the team with a 2-for-3 performance, while both Adams and Dreylee Webster drove in two runs apiece. The Lady Knights were clean in the field too, turning a smooth double play to halt any Swain momentum.
The Lady Devils will look to bounce back when they hit the road for a rematch in Robbinsville on Friday.
