Robbinsville Rolls Past Mitchell, 35–6
ROBBINSVILLE – The Big Oaks was rocking Friday night as the Black Knights turned in one of their most complete performances of the season, dominating Mitchell 35–6 in front of the home crowd.
After a scoreless opening quarter, Luke Lovin got Robbinsville on the board with a short touchdown run. Just minutes later, he struck again — this time through the air — finding Cameron Allison for a 61-yard touchdown that brought the stands to their feet and gave the Knights a 14–0 halftime cushion.
Coming out of the break, Robbinsville leaned on Kyzik Teesateskie, who punched in a seven-yard touchdown. Lovin followed with his second rushing score of the night, extending the lead to 28–0. Mitchell answered with a long touchdown run late in the third quarter, but the Knights’ defense quickly shut down any momentum. Teesateskie sealed the win in the fourth with a 21-yard scoring burst.
The Black Knights piled up nearly 400 yards of total offense, with Lovin throwing for 185 yards and a touchdown while adding two more on the ground. Allison caught three passes for 111 yards, and Teesateskie powered his way to 70 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
But the defense may have been the real story. Benton Gibby and Xamuel Wachacha led a swarming unit that forced five interceptions and stifled Mitchell’s offense from start to finish. Time and again, the Black Knights answered with big stops, holding the Mountaineers to just one third-down conversion all night.
With the win, Robbinsville improves to 2–1 and will open conference play at Home Friday vs Hayesville.
One underrated aspect of Friday Nights win was the atmosphere that is Big Oaks Stadium this year. Yes, in years past it has always been an intimidating place to play due to the history and the aura that surrounds the place, but this year the new regime has added some extra things that really make the game more enjoyable from a fan perspective. I encourage you to attend Friday nights game vs Hayesville and see it for yourself.
