Graham Co, NC – The #1 seeded team in the Dual Team State Finals took care of business on Saturday as Robbinsville defeated Mountain Island Charter and Mitchell County in the first and second rounds of the NCHSAA Dual Team Championships.
A 72-5 victory over Mountain Island Charter saw the hosting Knights advance to the second round of the Playoffs where they faced Mitchell County in a match that ended in nearly the same score as the first, with Robbinsville defeating the Mountaineers 71-6.
The Knights will now travel to Avery County on Wednesday to face the Alleghany Trojans in the 3rd round, where the winner of that match will face either Avery County or Mount Airy.
Robbinsville will be on the road even though they are the #1 seed due to travel factors. The NCHSAA states that the 3rd/4th round of the Dual Team State Finals will be played at the most central site of the four teams, which just so happens to be defending Dual Team state champs, Avery County.
