Robbinsville Rolls Rosman, Outscoring Opponents 159-21 In Last 5 Games

Robbinsville Rolls Past Rosman 31-6, Gets Back on Track in SMC Play

ROBBINSVILLE, N.C. — The Robbinsville Black Knights bounced back in a big way Friday night, using a strong defensive performance and a balanced offensive attack to cruise past the Rosman Tigers 31-6 in Smoky Mountain Conference action at Big Oaks Stadium.

Coming off a hard-fought 15-9 loss to rival Murphy the previous week, Robbinsville needed a response. The Black Knights delivered, controlling the game on both sides of the football and keeping Rosman off the scoreboard through the first three quarters.

After a scoreless opening quarter, Robbinsville found its rhythm in the second, putting 10 points on the board to carry a 10-0 advantage into halftime.

The Black Knights took complete control coming out of the locker room, adding 14 points in the third quarter to stretch their lead to 24-0. Robbinsville tacked on another touchdown in the fourth before Rosman finally broke through for its lone score of the night.

The victory improved Robbinsville to 4-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play, continuing an impressive turnaround after the Black Knights opened the season with four consecutive losses.

Junior running back Benton Gibby led the offensive charge, rushing for 155 yards and a touchdown on just 14 carries. Gibby averaged more than 11 yards per attempt, including a 45-yard run, and scored the game’s first touchdown on a 2-yard plunge in the second quarter.

Luke Green provided another spark in the backfield, rushing for 71 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries. Green found the end zone on runs of 19 and 3 yards, while Elijah Kirkland added 37 yards on three attempts, including a 13-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Quarterback Cameron Allison was efficient through the air, completing 7 of 10 passes for 117 yards. Xamuel Wachacha led the receiving corps with three catches for 43 yards, while Pacey Cable hauled in a 39-yard reception and Slade Freeman added a 23-yard catch.

In all, Robbinsville piled up 401 yards of total offense, including 284 on the ground, while picking up 16 first downs.

Defensively, the Black Knights continued to show why they’ve been one of the tougher units in the Smoky Mountain Conference in recent weeks.

Green led the defensive effort with five solo tackles, six assists and a tackle for loss. Kirkland added five solo stops, while Gibby contributed three solo tackles, three assists and a tackle for loss.

Cullen Rose recovered a Rosman fumble as the Black Knights won the turnover battle and held the Tigers to just nine first downs and three passing yards.

Rosman’s Brayan Reynaldo provided much of the Tigers’ offense, rushing for 114 yards and their lone touchdown on 15 carries. The Tigers managed 204 rushing yards but struggled to sustain drives, converting just three of their 10 third-down opportunities.

Special teams also played a role in the victory, as Zander Lucksavage connected on a 22-yard field goal and converted all four extra-point attempts to finish with seven points.

The win marked Robbinsville’s fourth victory in its last five games. During that stretch, the Black Knights have outscored their opponents 159-21, with the lone setback coming against Murphy.

Robbinsville will have a bye week before returning to action October 30 against Cherokee in its regular-season finale. With the playoffs approaching, the Black Knights will look to carry their recent momentum into the postseason.
