The Black Knights moved to 2-0 on the season after a big defensive showing, shutting out the Franklin Panthers and winning 26-0. This was a slow-moving game with no score in the first 15 minutes and only eight points on the board in the first half. Robbinsville would run away with the game in the second half thanks to their dominant performance on defense. Franklin is off to a slow start this season with a negative 53-point differential in just two games.
Team Notes
Robbinsville finished with 287 yards on offense, 200 of them came on the ground. Sr. Cuttler Adams led the Black Knights ground game with 21 carries, 97 yards, and two touchdowns. Sr. Kage Williams turned in a good performance as well, finishing with 53 yards on six carries and a touchdown. QB Donovan Carpenter finished 4/11 for 87 yards and a touchdown in the air while adding another 19 yards on the ground. WR Darion Ledbetter caught all four of Carpenters completions finishing with 87 yards and a touchdown. Jr. LB Roman Jones capped off a great defensive showing with two interceptions.
As for the Panthers, they mustered on 201 yards of offense in this one and failed to change the goose egg on the scoreboard. The team finished just 1/10 on third downs and QB Brock Bradley threw two interceptions in this one.
Looking Ahead
The 2-0 Black Knights will look to continue their dominating season as they travel to Burnsville to take on the 1-1 Mountain Heritage Cougars. As for the Franklin Panthers, they will look to pick up their first win as they travel to Swain County to take on the 2-0 Maroon Devils.
