27! Robbinsville Defeats Swain To Capture Their 27th SMC Title In School History

Robbinsville, NC – Cuttler Adams won the day for Robbinsville with a 102-yard pick-6 from his own endzone which helped the Black Knights capture their 27th SMC title in school history, as the Knights went on to defeat the Swain County Maroon Devils, 14-8.

Offense was at a minimum in this one, but the Knights did what they had to do to come away with a W.

Opening kickoff

Swain wins toss, elects to kick.

 

Turnover (8:00 First Q) 

Robbinsville is forced to punt after a 3 and out, but they recover a muffed punt that sets them up in great field position on the Swain County side of the 50.

Robbinsville turns it over on downs at the 13 yard line. 

 

Punt

Swain goes three and out, punts to RHS. 

 

TOUCHDOWN RHS (8-0 RHS)

Cuttler Adams dances in from 6 yards out, also adds the 2pt conversion to give the Knights an 8-0 lead with 11:03 left in the half. 

 

Turnover

Swain turns it over on downs with 3:00 to go in the second. 

 

TOUCHDOWN SCHS (8-8 tie)

Robbinsville drives all the way down to the Swain 24 yard line, but Josiah Glaspie intercepts a Donovan Carpenter pass intended for Cuttler Adams and Glaspie takes it 80 yards to the house. Glaspie also adds the 2pt conversion to tie the game up with :25 secs to go in the half. 

 

HALFTIME

Second Half Kickoff

Swain receives the ball at the 35 yard line to start the second half.

 

TOUCHDOWN RHS (14-8 RHS)

Swain eats up 10:37 on the opening drive of the second half, but it was all for not as Cuttler Adams intercepts a Winchester pass in his own endzone and returns it 102 yards to the house.  

 

Turnover

Tanner Hedden intercepts a Winchester pass on the SCHS 23 yard line with 7:24 to play in the game.

Josh Collins stops Bryce Adams on 4th down to give the Devils the ball at their own 14 with 5:00 to go in the game.

Swain turns it over on downs with 1:50 to go in the game.

Robbinsville kneels it out after Adams picks up the final first down of the game for Robbinsville.
