Robbinsville Advances, Awaits Winner of Andrews-South Davidson

Robbinsville handled its business Tuesday night in convincing fashion, riding a strong night on the mound and timely hitting to an 8-0 shutout win over North Stokes.

The Black Knights set the tone early and never looked back. In the bottom of the first inning, Rylen Orr sparked the offense with a single to center, and Peyton Brooks followed with a double to right, each driving in a run to give Robbinsville a quick 2-0 lead.

They added to that advantage in the second inning when Evan Menard lined a single down the left field line to bring another run across, steadily building separation.

From there, it was all about pitching.

Luke Lovin got the start and was in control throughout, allowing just one hit over five scoreless innings. The right-hander struck out six and worked around a pair of walks to keep North Stokes off balance all night. Brooks came on in relief and finished the job, tossing two scoreless innings without allowing a hit to seal the shutout.

At the plate, Robbinsville collected nine hits on the evening. Menard, Brooks, and Benton Gibby each turned in multi-hit performances, while Menard also swiped two bases to keep pressure on the Vikings’ defense. Lovin helped his own cause in the middle of the lineup, driving in two runs.

North Stokes managed just one hit on the night, with Hicks accounting for the lone knock.

With the win, Robbinsville advances and will face the winner of Andrews and South Davidson in Friday’s next round, as the Black Knights look to keep their postseason run rolling.
