An outpouring of runs in the fifth inning helped lift the Robbinsville Lady Knights to a 16-5 Smoky Mountain Conference Championship game victory over Cherokee.
The scoreboard read 6-5 when the Lady Knights and Lady Braves entered the bottom of the fifth inning, and it looked like this was going to be a tight one all the way through. But the Knights bats came alive and plated 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth, ending the championship game early due to the 10-run rule. In the inning- Kynadee Spencer hit a sac-fly scoring one run, Myah Winfrey knocked a two run single, an error scored two runs, Lakin Orr drove in a run, Lexie Williams scored a run, Loxley Burke scored a run, and Jadyn Chekelelee scored 2 runs to end the game early for the Knights.
Spencer led the way at the plate for Robbinsville, going 3-4 with 2 RBIs and a double. Khaygan Buchanan, Chekelelee, Burke, Orr, and Winfrey also had multiple hits and at least 1 RBI for the Lady Knights.
Lexi and Zeyli Williams reached base safely as well.
